Fujifilm X-S20 doubles battery life and 6K videos
The Fujifilm X-S20 was unveiled at the Fuji X Summit – the latest version of its XS camera range – with improved battery life and 6K video.
The original X-S10, launched in November 2020, quickly gained popularity as Fujifilm's versatile mirrorless camera designed for simplicity and outstanding performance. With its compact size and impressive specs, including an articulating screen perfect for vlogging, the X-S10 has attracted many photography enthusiasts around the world. Now, Fujifilm is introducing its highly anticipated successor, the Fujifilm X-S20, with major upgrades that improve the features and user experience.
1. Improved battery performance of the Fujifilm X-S20
At the forefront of the Fujifilm X-S20's innovations is its newly improved battery. Fujifilm boasts the impressive claim that the X-S20 can capture up to 800 more images on a single charge than its predecessor, effectively doubling the total number of shots. This remarkable feat is achieved by the X-S20 being equipped with the same high-capacity battery found in high-end Fujifilm cameras such as the Fujifilm X-T5 and Fujifilm X-H2.
2. Appropriate design of the Fujifilm X-S20
Despite the improved battery, the X-S20 retains its compact and lightweight build, weighing just 491g. Fujifilm retains the design and overall dimensions of the previous model, while ensuring a comfortable grip, a 2.36 million-dot electronic viewfinder and a fully articulating 1.84 million-dot LCD, making it ideal for handheld vlogging. The X-S20 features a simplified button and dial layout compared to other Fujifilm cameras, with electronic controls taking precedence over manual dials, allowing for a user-friendly experience for photographers. Photographers of all levels.
3. Powerful imaging features of the Fujifilm X-S20
Equipped with the previous generation X-Trans IV back-illuminated CMOS sensor, the X-S20 delivers impressive image quality with a resolution of 26.1 megapixels. In addition, the X-S20 features 5-axis in-body image stabilization, which offers up to 7 stops of stabilization when used with a compatible lens. This combination allows photographers to capture sharp, blur-free photos even in difficult shooting conditions. The camera is equipped with the latest X-Processor 5, which offers significant improvements in video recording and object detection.
4. The advanced video features of the Fujifilm X-S20
The X-S20 takes its video capabilities to the next level and is now capable of recording 6.2K 30p video internally in 4:2:2 10-bit. It also offers external recording in Apple ProRes RAW format via an HDMI connection to an Atomos device or Blackmagic RAW using the Blackmagic Design Video Assist 12G.
In addition, the camera supports Fujifilm F-Log for extensive color correction in post-production and has a dynamic range of over 13 stops. In addition, the X-S20 offers video recording in 4K resolution up to 60p and 1080p HD at 240 fps and has a 3.5 mm jack for high-quality audio recording.
5. Intelligent object detection and tracking
The X-S20 introduces new object tracking and detection features, including the ability to detect animals, birds, cars, motorcycles, bicycles, airplanes, trains, insects and moving drones using deep learning technology.
In AUTO mode, the camera uses AI to automatically detect subjects, maintain focus through tracking, and select optimal camera settings.
Notably, the X-S20 features a dedicated “Vlog” mode on the main dial, which provides easy access to vlogging-specific settings and features such as Product Priority Mode and Background Blur Mode. Additionally, users can increase control by attaching the X-S20 to the TG-BT1 Tripod Grip.
